Green Business Grants Programme
North Somerset Council has launched the third round of its Green Business Grants (formerly Net Zero Business Grants) programme. The programme supports our small and medium size businesses (SMEs) and sole traders with decarbonisation and energy efficiency works to continue working towards a net zero North Somerset area. It is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
For this round of funding, we are offering 3 opportunities:
- Business Carbon Surveys: any eligible SME in North Somerset can apply for a carbon survey, with no obligation to apply for a grant afterward. Available funding is limited, so we recommend applying as soon as possible. Opens 01 March 2025, Closes 31 May 2025 or when the total funding is exhausted (whichever happens soonest).
- Small Capital Grants: grants range from £500 to £4,999. Total funding allocation is £50,000. Opens 01 March 2025, closes 31 May 2025. No carbon survey is required to apply for a Small Capital Grant.
- Large Capital Grants: Grants range from £5,000 to £10,000. A valid carbon survey is required to apply (either an existing one, or one provided through this programme). Total funding allocation is £100,000. Opens 01 May 2025, closes 30 June 2025.
Grants can be used to carry out energy efficiency measures, such as LED replacements, draught proofing, insulation, replacement of energy inefficient appliances, installation of air source heat pumps and renewables.

To apply for a grant, businesses must submit an application for a registered trading address in North Somerset and must fulfil the eligibility criteria which can be found here: Green Business Grant Guidance Document.
