Universal Business Support Programme

The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) is working in partnership with the local councils to provide start-ups, small businesses and aspiring business owners with the support they need to get set for success.

The universal business support programme can help you:

  • Understand regulations, requirements and best practice when setting up a new business
  • Access free expert advice and guidance to get started with a new business
  • Access training to develop your business
  • Access a range of one to one support, workshops and resources to help with everything from digital marketing to accountancy

Universal business support is free, and open to all entrepreneurs, start up businesses and established SMEs in the West of England – that’s Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

Growth Hub

The West of England Growth Hub supports businesses throughout Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire to innovate, grow and thrive. This free and impartial service is available to businesses of all sectors and sizes who have the ambition to grow.

Businesses are able to access local, free support to help around issues such as:

Accelerate - Supporting Business in North Somerset

Accelerate is a programme of targeted, flexible business and skills support that is designed to offer businesses and individuals across North Somerset the support that is needed most.

This multi-partnership approach draws on the knowledge and expertise of  four established delivery partners:

  • North Somerset Council
  • Weston College
  • North Somerset Enterprise Agency
  • The Food and Drink Forum

Accelerate is open to all North Somerset businesses and sectors that are facing barriers to accessing business support, with particular attention given to rural businesses, deprived communities, female entrepreneurs, 18–35-year-olds, creative industries, and food and drink manufacturers.

Advanced Engineering Acceleration hubs

Business Acceleration Hubs

North Somerset Council is part of The Advanced Engineering and Digital Innovation Business Acceleration Hub programmes delivered by SET squared Bath and University of Bath. The programme offers bespoke business support and coaching to help innovative companies across the West of England achieve their potential. The support is free and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
