Visitor Economy

North Somerset’s plan for the visitor economy prioritises the promotion and growth of environmentally friendly holidays, and targeted support to improve the quality and diversity of the tourism sector for the region

North Somerset Visitor Economy Action Plan

North Somerset is strategically located at the gateway to the South-West and part of the successful West of England region. The area is comprised of 25 miles of coastline and countryside with popular towns and a wide variety of key attractions that make it a significant tourism destination within the UK.

To support the businesses across the region, the Council has developed a Visitor Economy Action Plan, with the overall objective to increase visitor spending and support the retention of this income within the economy, to benefit local employment, businesses and communities, and the following three priorities:

  • Increase visibility of North Somerset as a destination and what it has to offer
  • Increase the value of the visitor economy sector and sub-sectors in North Somerset
  • Increase the diversity of the current offer to better match visitor trends
