Businesses offered free Carbon Literacy training

16th October 2024

On Thursday 14 November 2024, North Somerset Council is participating in the Carbon Literacy Action Day – the world’s largest climate education-and-action training event, coinciding with COP29.

The Action Day is a movement which sees the largest number of people, from all corners of the globe, simultaneously complete Carbon Literacy training in a single day.

Our planned activity for the Action Day is to deliver free Carbon Literacy for Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) in North Somerset. Find out more information here: www.n-somerset.gov.uk/carbonliteracy.

This follows our highly successful delivery of Carbon Literacy training in December 2023 for Carbon Literacy Action Day, which was attended by 175 people from local businesses and community groups.

This year’s Carbon Literacy course will take 7-8 hours and will be delivered via Teams, on Thursday 14 November. This is a free full-day training session, delivered by our Carbon Literacy trainer. We may add an additional session during the week, depending on demand.

Becoming Carbon Literate means taking actionable steps towards tackling the climate emergency. You’ll have an opportunity to understand the causes and effects of climate change and how it may affect your business or organisation, and what you can do to address the impacts.

Once you’ve completed the course, you will receive a certificate to confirm you are Carbon Literate. We will be happy to give you further guidance if you wish to become a Carbon Literate Organisation. You can find further information on the Carbon Literacy Project at: https://carbonliteracy.com/

This course would normally cost £125 per person, but we are offering this course for free.

Please note this offer only applies to courses being delivered by North Somerset Council during Carbon Literacy Action Week (Monday 11 November – Friday 15 November 2024).

To register your interest, email the Climate Emergency team at Climate.Emergency@n-somerset.gov.uk by Thursday 31 October.
