Popular Solar Panel Buying Scheme Returns

3rd September 2024

The innovative solar panel scheme Solar Together has returned to help North Somerset small businesses, community groups and residents generate clean, local, renewable energy.

Solar Together uses the collective bargaining power of many local small businesses, community groups and households to buy high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, batteries and EV home charge points – and their installation – at a very competitive price.

This is the third time the council has been part of Solar Together. North Somerset Council have again partnered with the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) and independent group-buying collective iChoosr Ltd to deliver the scheme.

Small businesses, community groups and residents are all encouraged to apply.

Last year nearly 2,600 solar panels were installed at properties across North Somerset, thanks to Solar Together. Feedback from previous Solar Together customers shows that the top reasons for joining the scheme include:

  • hassle-free process
  • trustworthy pre-approved contractor
  • high quality panels and installation
  • more affordable price compared to buying directly from an installer.

North Somerset Council is committed to making North Somerset a thriving and sustainable place to live by tackling the climate emergency. A key component of the council’s ambition to reduce emissions and reach net zero by 2030 is to improve access to renewable energy.

The more small businesses, community groups and households that participate, the better the price we can secure, plus more renewable energy will be generated. Anyone who already has solar panels installed can also register to have battery storage added to their existing set-up to maximise the benefits of their system.

Registration for Solar Together is free, with no obligation to buy. To find out more please visit www.n-somerset.gov.uk/solartogether or call 0800 014 8851.
