Knife Angel Competition Reaches North Somerset

11th April 2024

The Knife Angel North Somerset will be arriving at the Italian Gardens, Weston-Super-Mare with the opening ceremony starting at 16:00 on Wednesday 1 May.

The statue will be in Weston throughout May, as part of a nationwide tour to highlight the issue of violent crime and how we can keep our communities safe. The iconic 27-foot-tall statue is made from 100,000 knifes and blades confiscated by the UK’s 43 police forces.

While the Knife Angel is in Weston, North Somerset’s Violence Reduction Partnership will have their Information hub based at the statue, from 9am to 6pm every day in Throughout May, raising awareness about knife crime and the devastating impacts it has on lives and educating people on how you can help keep yourself and your community safe.

As part of this varied programme of events, the North Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership is running photography and poster competitions which gives people the chance to use art as a powerful outlet to express feelings associated with knife crime, encouraging people to spread awareness of the consequences caused by knife crime and devastating affect it has on lives.
