Weston College work with hundreds of businesses, from Somerset to Bristol, across a number of sectors to create individualised training programmes that could support your business to grow and prosper and are now looking for suitable placements for their Digital T Level learners for a one day a week work placement.
About Digital T Level Placements
Extra Pair of Hands
Students must do an industry placement as part of a T Level. Industry placements must be a minimum of 315 hours, which is approximately 45 days!
Talent Spotting
Hosting a digital T Level student is a great way for businesses to connect with digital talent, gain new perspectives and get extra resources and support
Support Fund
You can apply for funding to cover the costs of set-up, equipment and staff training associated with the T Level placement.
T Levels are brand new ‘technical’ courses. They are not easy, in fact they are the equivalent of three A Levels. Students must have passed Maths and English GCSE to study a T Level and they are keen to get into work and learn real skills on-the-job to support their career
Industry Placements
- Minimum of 315 hours (approx. 45 working days)
- Occupationally specific – focused on developing practical and technical skills required for the profession or trade that the student is studying for
- Real environment – placement should be with an employer in a real life working environment
- Extensive research, engagement with stakeholders and support for implementation
- T Level provider is responsible for finding the placement
- There is no legal requirement or expectation that T Level students will be paid – but employers can choose to if they wish
FAQ’s:
What day would the learner need to be in the placement location/office?
Every Monday during term time.
How long for?
The placement needs to cover 315 hours – approx. 45 days over two years.
Do I have to pay the student?
There is no expectation to pay your student. Some employers can support the placement learner with travel expenses or through a wage if they choose.
Can I see their CV and interview potential placements?
Yes, you can receive CV’s, covering letters and ask for examples of work. We can also arrange for you to interview interested students.
Can I claim support for equipment?
Yes, we can also support you with a T Level support fund for reasonable costs such as a equipment purchases.
Will I get support from the college?
Our careers team will be in touch with both you and the learner regularly to check the placement is meeting all needs. All we ask is that you track their attendance and offer sound mentoring
What else do I need to know?
We will support your understanding over any safeguarding concerns and be on hand to work with you should anything arise you need support with. The learner will be in college and have all pastoral and tutor support throughout their studies.

We will contact you to set you up as an employer and work with you to find the right learner for your business. There will be a Work Placement agreement and Health and Safety declaration to complete alongside an overview of the student learning module.
