How can you and your business get involved in See Monster?

9th May 2022

The arrival on Weston-super-Mare’s seafront this summer of SEE MONSTER, a flagship arts installation, will present opportunities for businesses to attract visitors to the town centre and their premises.  SEE MONSTER is expected to attract up to 200,000 visitors over the two months it will be at the Tropicana and businesses are encouraged to plan how they can advantage of this opportunity.

Here are some guidelines and ideas from Fran Riseley Consulting:

  • Inform your customers about events
  • Tell them several times in different ways
    • Social media
    • In store
    • Window display
    • Email newsletter
    • Events
    • Web site
  • Help them plan a day out
  • Relate to your merchandise or services
  • Can you run a promotion to tie in with it?
  • Don’t leave it to the last minute
  • Make it fun!
    • Dress up
    • Themed food and drink

Pubs could have themed cocktails, clothes shops could have weather related window displays; if you sell gifts promote your recycled or green gifts; if you run a café promote a green menu.

NEWSUBSTANCE, the creators of SEE MONSTER, have developed a scheme where businesses have a chance to get onto the SEE MONSTER website by offering discounts to visitors or SEE MONSTER staff and crew.  If you are interested in this enter your offer here https://innorthsomerset.co.uk/see-monster-business-engagement/ and NEWSUBSTANCE will select and promote a range of offers from the visitor economy and retail businesses to showcase on their site.  There is no charge to you as a business.

SEE MONSTER window stickers have also been produced by NEWSUBSTANCE.  Most of these have now been distributed but there are a few left; please contact events@sovereign-centre.co.uk

Amongst a wide range of events and activities organised by Culture Weston there will be a Climate Carnival in the High Street involving local businesses and the Sovereign will be running a shop window Monster Trail with Monsters painted by local schools.

Entry to SEE MONSTER will be free, with local residents getting a first look. Information on how to book tickets will be announced soon.
