Opportunity North Somerset

30th June 2021

The project brings services to people directly through Employment and Skills Hubs located within library spaces across the region, with training providers in place to offer on-hand support. These Hubs are currently available in the following locations:

  • Weston Central Library
  • For All Healthy Living Centre
  • Pill Library
  • Clevedon Library
  • Portishead Library

In addition to this, an online and remote service is available to offer further support for residents that are unable to travel.

Delivered by North Somerset Council and North Somerset Libraries, Opportunity North Somerset acts as a referral point for residents by providing a bespoke service that matches vacancies with job seekers living in North Somerset, as well as encouraging those within the community to outline a skills pathway to fully utilise existing support, obtain work, and achieve independence.

For further information on how to get involved, please contact SkillsSupport@n-somerset.gov.uk

The service offers a targeted approach that addresses the needs of residents by providing support with both digital barriers and wellbeing in additional to assisting with individual employment goals. This allows residents to outline the necessary steps they need to take to obtain their perfect position.

The Hubs provide an ideal platform for businesses to also get involved to offer their support, and promote their own vacancies with an actively engaged audience that are ready to take the next steps. In addition to this, Opportunity North Somerset will also host Employment & Skills Showcase events in key locations later in the year for residents to engage with a range of different providers and businesses.

Opportunity North Somerset provides support for residents that are either looking for work or are interested in exploring and developing new skills with training.
