Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grants (OHLG) and Additional Restrictions Grants (ARG)

The Government has announced a new business grant called ‘Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant’ that will be available to support businesses in recognition that the rise of the Omicron variant means that some businesses are likely to struggle over the coming weeks.
Those eligible will receive a one-off payment determined by the rateable value of the business property and the business categorisation.
Grant recipients must be solvent businesses and ratepayers from either the hospitality or leisure sector including pubs, hotels, restaurants, bars, cinemas or amusement parks.
The grants are paid per premises and the amount paid will vary depending on the rateable value of each eligible premises:

£0 – £15K £2,700
£15K – £51K £4,000
> £51k £6,000
If you previously received a Restart Grant the council will email you before the 21 January 2022 inviting you to complete a short application form and you should use the link provided in the email to apply.
If you do not receive an email inviting you to claim the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant but you believe that you are eligible you will still be able to apply. Please note there will be a deadline for this grant of around 20th February 2022.
For non-rated businesses working in hospitality and leisure a new discretionary grant (Additional Restrictions Grant – ARG) will also be available. Maximum grants £250 – £1,000.
Th ARG is primarily aimed at businesses that have been significantly financially impacted due to the Government’s response in December 2021, to the new COVID-19 Omicron variant, introducing international travel restrictions and implementing the Government’s Plan B restrictions.
