Tourism: Is Weston-super-Sustainable?

  • 19th March 2020
  • 8:45 AM - 11:00 AM
  • Grand Pier, Marine Parade, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1AL

Steeped with Victorian history and dominated by a long stretch of glorious beach, Weston-super-Mare is the perfect gateway to all the attractions that Somerset offers. It is no wonder that tourism is an essential part of the seaside town. However, tourism puts enormous stress on local land use, and can lead to soil erosion, increased pollution, natural habitat loss, and more pressure on endangered species.

Sustainable tourism not only means supporting the local economy and community tourism initiatives, but is a way of leaving a minimum negative impact and preferably leaving a positive impact on society.

This breakfast seminar will look at how tourism businesses can increase their sustainability efforts with regards to tourist travel, food waste, thought leadership and single-use product management. We welcome all employees or employers who are interested in implementing sustainable methods at any level.

The Future Economy Network is happy to co-host this event with The Grand Pier. We will be joined by Plastic Free Weston & Green Tourism to speak.
