Mendip Outdoor Pursuits has been providing life changing experiences and great memories since 1987. Situated on the edge of the stunning Mendip Hills in North Somerset, between Bristol and Weston-super-Mare, we have been providing high quality, tailor-made outward activity courses for companies, schools, organisations and individuals throughout the South West.
We have grown steadily over the years and took over the operation of the ski slope in Churchill from Avon Ski and Action in January 2013. By uniting the two teams, combining facilities and merging expertise, a huge range of exciting activities now take place at this picturesque centre. This merger also secured 41 jobs and created eight new posts.
We have worked with many of the local schools and companies in North Somerset and Bristol providing outdoor activity days, courses and residential experiences. We have seen an increased demand for social events like stag and hen parties, birthday parties and reunions. We pride ourselves on our flexible approach to course design and arrange events to suit objectives, location and budget.
Mendip’s crack team of outdoor pursuit instructors get £2,000 and 5 days to refurbish the apres ski cafe-bar at our snowsport centre. Watch five days work condensed down to just 2 minutes:
- Approved Activity Provider status by the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme
- The Adventuremark Quality Badge from the Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee
- The Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge
North Somerset is a very convenient place to live and work. It’s close to the motorway network, train links are good and the airport is very accessible. My clients and staff appreciate the great caving and limestone climbing in the area and it’s very close to some great kayaking rivers.
North Somerset is very supportive of companies using the area and council owned sites to get people outside and active. There are great public spaces and free facilities to encourage use. Worlebury Woods and Ashton Court have a permanent orienteering course and stainless steel climbing anchors have been put in at the top of Uphill Quarry on the edge of Weston-super-Mare.
