WordPress is the world’s most popular, free, Website Content Management Platform (CMS) and is used by ~44% of all Websites on the Internet. Its highly customisable interfaces, and widely available free and inexpensive plugins gives SMEs an excellent framework to build everything from single-page websites to fully customisable e-commerce experiences.
This session delivered by Weston College on behalf of the West Of England Combined Authority is designed for more technical/experienced WordPress users looking to develop new sites from scratch using WordPress as a platform: This could include developing a new website, rebranding, giving an existing site a new theme or update/refresh. This hands-on, practical session will review both freely available and commercial themes and explore how these can be adapted to meet your brand and requirements.
This course may also be useful for those who are not actively developing WP sites but would like to learn more about the development process, capabilities and workflow when overseeing projects or going to tender to inform decisions.
Additional topics will include WordPress disaster recovery, managing users and different access levels and an introduction to custom WordPress Theme development (Including HTML/CSS/PHP, although this will only address how/where these are applied). Finally with reviewing some of the day-to-day performance opsonisations and benchmarking WP performance.
