Join us on Thursday, 18th June at Mendip Adventure for the latest visitor economy North Somerset networking event – a morning of practical insight, peer connection, and the latest news for businesses across the district.

At this Explore event, we will focus on Attracting, Keeping and Motivating Staff in the Visitor Economy, addressing some of the most pressing workforce challenges facing businesses today:

• Recruitment and retention remain significant challenges for many employers
• Customer expectations remain high, even where staffing levels have fallen
• Apprenticeships, part-time, flexible and inclusive roles are increasingly important — yet many businesses still feel unsupported in accessing them

The morning will begin at 9:30 AM. We expect the event to conclude by 1:00 PM.

• Mendip Adventure — Dave Eddins sharing insight and experience from a leading local visitor economy business.
• North Somerset Council Economy Team — An overview of Connect to Work and the Youth Guarantee, and what these mean for employers looking to grow their teams.
• Weston College — Lynsey Mckinstry on Foundational Apprenticeships, supported internships, and the practical support available to employers.
• West of England Combined Authority — Claire Wilshire presenting the Good Employment Charter, including an overview and real-world case studies.
• Visit West — Dan Mills offering a regional picture of workforce trends across the visitor economy.
• Panel Discussion & Q&A — Local visitor economy businesses will join the panel to share their experiences of recruitment, retention and workforce development, with delegates able to put their questions directly to speakers and panellists.
