Local employers in North Somerset can now access a valuable new resource to support their staff’s health and wellbeing at work. WorkWell West provides a free, independent service designed to help businesses reduce sickness absences while supporting employees with health conditions or workplace challenges.
With staff absences costing the UK economy billions each year, this service offers employers a practical way to create efficiencies and savings by reducing sickness absence rates, while simultaneously improving staff morale and productivity.
The service helps employers retain valuable knowledge and skills from existing staff by supporting quicker returns to work, reducing the need for costly retraining or recruitment. Additionally, by supporting employees with disabilities and health conditions, businesses can enhance workforce diversity and gain different perspectives.
What WorkWell West Provides:
- Personalised support service with a single point of access
- Expert advice and information on dealing with employee health condition issues
- Dedicated support for up to six months aligned with health and work developments
- Independent intermediary service to remove communication barriers and address misunderstandings
- Faster return-to-work timeframes, relieving pressure on employers and reducing costly appeals, tribunal claims and litigation
One of the most common challenges for employees struggling with health conditions is a communication breakdown with their employer. Staff often become uncertain about their options and increasingly anxious about returning to work, leading to longer absences. WorkWell’s trained health and work coaches provide voluntary, free, local support to help employees manage expectations, develop practical solutions, and understand advice from occupational health and HR departments.
Referrals can be made at any stage – before any sickness absence occurs, while an employee is off work, or even when someone is considering leaving the organisation.
