Free Mental Health First Aid Training Available for North Somerset Employers

North Somerset Council is encouraging local employers to take advantage of fully funded mental health first aid training, designed to enhance workplace wellbeing and support employees facing mental health challenges.
The “Level 2 Award in Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health” course will take place on Tuesday, 21 and Wednesday, 22 October 2025 at the Construction Training Centre, Locking Head Drove, Weston-super-Mare, BS24 7NA. The course is scheduled from 9am to 5pm on the first day and 9am to 1pm on the second day, concluding with a multiple-choice assessment.
Delivered in partnership with Weston College, this comprehensive training equips participants with essential knowledge on identifying mental health issues, managing their own well-being, and effectively supporting colleagues. Topics covered include understanding mental health, recognising signs of mental ill health, promoting mental wellness in the workplace, and building resilience.
This training is fully funded for employees earning under £25,000 annually. Employers will need to contribute 50% of the training cost (£52.92 per person) for employees earning above this threshold.
Eligibility criteria include delegates being over the age of 19, residing in England, and having the right to work in the UK. Participants are advised to have at least Level 2 literacy and numeracy skills or equivalent.
