Ablaze volunteering
21st May 2024
Ablaze have a new social value opportunity for businesses working in and around Weston Super-Mare who are interested in offering new, meaningful volunteering opportunities for their staff from September 2024.
We are a small independent charity working across the West of England and work with businesses to help you meet your social value commitments, offering volunteering opportunities that support less advantaged pupils in local primary schools with their reading or maths skills as part of our reading and number partners programmes. We have several schools currently looking for new business partners across the region and would match you with a school close to where you work.
Our Reading Partners Programme supports pupils on a 1:1 basis in local primary schools develop key reading skills by matching business volunteers with children, who they visit and listen to read, face to face, for 30 minutes each week. Volunteers will support the same child each week for the duration of the programme, enabling them to create a bond of trust and familiarity adding additional value to the volunteer.
All our programmes will support businesses with social value commitments and as we provide full training, DBS checks and ongoing project management for all volunteers, our programmes also offer opportunities for staff development and meaningful community engagement.
I would welcome an informal chat with anyone interested in the above opportunity.
