NSC Seeks feedback for Community Meal Service

1st January 2024

North Somerset Council is reviewing its current community meals service and is seeking feedback from the local community on how best to deliver this service in the future.

The current service reheats pre-prepared frozen meals for delivery at lunch time along with freshly prepared sandwiches and/or salads for tea, delivered along with the hot meals.

Meals are prepared and delivered between the hours of 8am and 2pm weekdays, and between 9am and 1pm at weekends.

Meals are currently delivered 7 days a week over 52 weeks except Christmas Day and New Years Day by a fleet of North Somerset Council electric vehicles across the authority area.

The council delivers to approximately 250 individuals across North Somerset. In March 2024 the council delivered 5800 hot meals and 800 cold teas.

We are sending out questionnaires to any interested catering establishments to understand who might be in a position to prepare the meals in the future or hire out their kitchen for others to use. There are no plans to cease the current service at present and there would be no obligation on anyone who responds to the questionnaire.

If you are interested in receiving a copy of the questionnaire please email  kate.williams@n-somerset.gov.uk
