RideTandem Offers Smart Shuttle Solutions for Workplace Commuting
29th January 2026
With car ownership declining and over 3,000 UK bus routes cut in the last decade, many employees are struggling to reach workplaces with poor public transport links. RideTandem provides fully managed workplace transport solutions to help employers address this challenge.
The company works with employers across the UK to design and operate smart shuttle services using local coaches, minibuses and taxis. These services are particularly valuable for sites where public transport options are limited, helping businesses to recruit from wider talent pools and retain existing staff.
How the Service Works
RideTandem handles all aspects of the transport service, from initial route design through to daily operations. The company sources and vets local transport operators from its nationwide network, then manages the service with 24/7 customer support and live journey monitoring. A dedicated account manager works with each client to optimise routes over time using data collected through the company’s technology platform.
Passengers book their journeys through a mobile app, which is available in 13 languages. The app allows users to track vehicles in real time and, where applicable, pay fares by debit or credit card. Employers can monitor bookings, see which passengers have boarded, and track vehicle locations through the RideTandem Hub.
Benefits for Employers
The service helps employers address several workplace challenges, including staff retention, recruitment difficulties, parking pressure and sustainability objectives. Research suggests that 22 per cent of staff have left a job due to a bad commute, whilst 78 per cent of people now consider car ownership unaffordable.
Employers can choose whether passengers pay a fare, with RideTandem working to agree pricing that remains affordable for staff whilst reducing or eliminating the cost to the business. The system is designed to remain compliant with minimum wage legislation when fares are charged.
Sustainability Credentials
RideTandem is the only supplier of commuting services globally to hold B Corp accreditation, recognising its commitment to communities and the environment. All services can be offered on a carbon neutral basis through offsetting partnerships accredited to VCS or Gold Standard. The company also offers low and zero-emission vehicles, including fully electric options.
The company counts DPD, Lidl, Royal Mail, Next, Aston Martin and 2 Sisters Food Group among its clients.
