New Creative Health Network Launches Across West of England

Bristol City Council and creativeShift have announced the launch of the West of England Creative Health Network, a new regional initiative serving Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and Bath and North East Somerset.
To celebrate this milestone, a special launch event will take place on Tuesday 27th January 2026 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at M-Shed, Bristol, bringing together practitioners, partners and supporters to champion creative health across the region.
Who Can Join?
The network welcomes creative health practitioners and anyone who leads creative engagement activities with a health and wellbeing focus.
Network Aims
Co-delivered by the Arts Development Team at Bristol City Council and creativeShift, the network has been established to provide peer learning and networking opportunities, develop regional and cross-sector relationships, and nurture creative health ecologies across the West of England.
Creativity plays a vital role in supporting health and well-being throughout the region. From art workshops to music projects, local initiatives are helping people feel better and connect with others. The network will raise awareness of the impact of creative health and work to ensure this vital sector continues to grow and flourish.
The network is funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, Bristol City Council and Sirona Care and Health.
Understanding Creative Health
Creative health uses creative activities, such as arts, crafts, literature and gardening, to support and improve health and wellbeing. It also includes innovative approaches to delivering health and care services through co-production, education and workforce development.
Creative health plays a vital role in preventing illness, promoting healthy behaviours, managing long-term conditions, and supporting treatment and recovery across all stages of life.
