Contractors’ Tender: Marine Lake Improvements Open in Weston-super-Mare

North Somerset Council is inviting contractors to tender for a package of improvement works at Marine Lake in Weston-super-Mare, as part of the council’s wider placemaking programme for the town.
The contract opportunity is now live on the Supplying the South West procurement portal (reference: DN749665), following an earlier expression of interest exercise in autumn 2024.
Planned works include:
- Refurbishing the slipway
- Resurfacing the walkway
- Upgrading public toilet facilities
- Refurbishing building space for future use as a boat and equipment hire hub
- Improving wayfinding and safety signage, including clearer ‘no diving’ notices
- Repairing the Madeira Gardens pavilion roof
- Repairing ramps and resurfacing steps
- Installing new bicycle racks
An accompanied site visit will take place on Tuesday 24 June 2025. Slots must be booked in advance via the portal messaging system and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tenders must be submitted via the portal by 1pm on Friday 18 July 2025.
Work is expected to start in autumn 2025 and be completed by spring 2026.
This project is part of North Somerset Council’s ambitious placemaking vision to enhance Weston-super-Mare’s seafront and public spaces. It is being funded through a successful £20m bid to the UK Government to support regeneration in the town.
