Organisations Invited to Share Experiences on Trustee Board Diversity
14th May 2025
Not-for-profit organisations across North Somerset are being encouraged to take part in a new survey to help improve diversity on trustee boards, with a particular focus on disability inclusion.
The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) has launched the survey to better understand the challenges and successes organisations experience when recruiting and retaining diverse trustees. Insights gathered will help shape a new workshop designed to support more inclusive and representative boards.
The survey explores a range of diversity characteristics, including disability, ethnicity, gender identity, age, and sexual orientation. It aligns with Arts Council England’s expectations for board diversity, especially for organisations receiving public funding.
The survey is open to organisations based in North Somerset, as well as those in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, and South Gloucestershire. Responses are anonymous, although organisations can choose to leave their contact details to receive further information or request a one-to-one conversation about trustee recruitment.
The findings will directly inform the development of a practical workshop to support boards in becoming more accessible and representative of the communities they serve.

This initiative is part of WECA’s wider commitment to supporting inclusive governance and promoting greater diversity in the region’s voluntary and community sectors.
