Energy Efficiency Training for Older and Traditional Buildings

An exciting training opportunity is now available for those with a basic understanding of building practices who want to expand their skills in retrofitting older and traditional buildings.

The Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings will be delivered in person at venues in Bristol and Clevedon, with some sessions held online. The course is being offered at the heavily discounted rate of £275, compared to the usual cost of £500 for online delivery.

This accredited training course, run by the Tywi Centre, provides in-depth knowledge on improving energy efficiency while preserving the heritage and character of traditional buildings. It is ideal for professionals working in construction, architecture, conservation, or building maintenance.

Course schedule:

  • Day 1: Monday 16 June (15:30–17:00, online)
    • Welcome, course introduction, overview of traditional construction and building types
  • Day 2: Wednesday 18 June (09:00–17:00, Bristol Quakers, Redland)
    • Understanding buildings, heritage values, town tour, energy efficiency measures, materials and defects
  • Day 3: Friday 20 June (09:00–10:00, online)
    • Seminar on modelling building performance and Q&A session
  • Day 4: Tuesday 24 June (09:00–10:00, online)
    • Seminar on heating and ventilation approaches, options and measures
  • Day 5: Thursday 26 June (09:00–17:00, Clevedon Town Council office)
    • Practical application: site visit, project review, evaluation, and management

Participants should be prepared to commit around 19.5 hours across the course dates.
