Age Advantage: Supporting 55+ into Work and Volunteering
23rd April 2025
A new initiative is launching in Weston-super-Mare to support residents aged 55 and over to build confidence, develop skills, and access employment and volunteering opportunities.
Age Advantage, developed by Hub Weston CIC, aims to empower people aged 55+ to overcome common barriers to re-entering the workforce or finding meaningful volunteer roles. The programme offers a range of tailored support, including:
- Personalised Skills Development – Practical workshops and one-to-one career coaching to boost employability and volunteering potential
- Confidence and Empowerment – Tools and guidance to help participants feel ready to take on new roles
- Connections and Community – A chance to build social networks and connect with inclusive employers and volunteer organisations
- Age-Friendly Opportunities – Direct access to roles that recognise and value the life experience of participants
The first session, Rediscovering Your Strengths & Skills, will take place on Monday 13 May at 6pm at The Stable, Weston-super-Mare. This workshop is designed to help participants identify their unique skills and explore how they can be applied in new settings.
Residents are encouraged to refer anyone who may benefit from taking part.
