Western Gateway Strategic Investment Plan Consultation is Live!

9th January 2025

The Western Gateway, the Sub-national Transport Body covering Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, the West of England, and Dorset, has launched its Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) consultation. This consultation seeks public feedback on the transport schemes shortlisted as part of the SIP and runs from 20 December 2024 to 2 February 2025.

What is the SIP?

The SIP is a multi-modal investment plan designed to boost the economy, improve the quality of life for people and businesses, and support environmental sustainability. It builds on the Strategic Transport Plan (STP) adopted in March 2024, which guides future transport investment in the Western Gateway region by addressing key strategic issues. Once finalized, the SIP will serve as a blueprint for regional transport infrastructure investment over the next decade, enabling the delivery of quality housing, sustainable growth, and reduced carbon emissions.
