Explore North Somerset held at Puxton Park

26th March 2024

On Wednesday 20th March, Explore North Somerset held its latest event at the adventure-filled Puxton Park!

Attendees had the opportunity to experience the Park first-hand, hear from a fantastic range of speakers on the topic of employment and skills, and meet some delightful animals.

At the event, Lynsey McKinstry from Weston College provided a detailed overview of the wide variety of employment and skills support they offer to businesses and organisations across the South-West. This includes Business Skills, Supported Internships, and Conscious Inclusion and Neurodiversity Training.

Further information is available via the following links:

Additionally, if businesses are looking to recruit or support their teams through an apprenticeship, Weston College are keen to assist for free using their in-house apprenticeship recruitment team.

The College offers over 70 apprenticeships and, as of 18th March 2024, the Government has advised that if small to medium businesses are looking to take on an apprentice aged 21 and under, the cost of the apprenticeship is now fully covered.

Kathryn Davis from Visit West, John Turner from Visit Somerset, and Jane Murch from Visit Weston-super-Mare also presented key updates on the visitor economy as well as details on the extensive employment and skills support they provide to organisations across the sector.

To wrap things up, Anne-Mette Jacobsen, Alistair Mead, Georgina Thorne, Grace Harvey, and Joe Huntley from Puxton Park outlined the exciting history of the Park, their Inclusivity and Accessibility Mission, as well as their established partnership with the onsite Animal Management Education Centre.

Hosted by North Somerset Council Economy Team, Explore North Somerset is a series of networking and familiarisation events that take place across the county to showcase the distinct offer that North Somerset presents to visitors and provide a space for Visitor Economy businesses to connect, develop and grow.
