Today’s the day! It’s 2 December, Small Business Saturday.
And what a fantastic day to go out and support your local independent businesses it is! Here’s a short round-up of a small number of wonderful events taking place today across North Somerset.
Bleadon
Visit the popular Bleadon Christmas Market, with more than 50 festive stalls, raffle and refreshments at three halls in the heart of the village. From 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Please park carefully in the village and walk or wheel where you can.
Clevedon
Fun for all the family can be enjoyed at the annual Light up the Lake, at Clevedon Marine Lake today. Join the procession with the Samba band from 4.30pm from Clevedon Pier to the lake, where there will be music, fire dancers and twinkling lights on the lake. Why not get there early and do a spot of Christmas shopping in the town centre and Hill Road?
Hutton
Hutton Village Hall is home to the village’s Christmas Fair today, from 10am to 4pm, with lots of stalls and festive entertainment.
Portishead
Meet Santa at Portishead’s Christmas Market today at Gordano School, from 10am to 3pm.
Weston-super-Mare
Pick up food and drink from local producers at the Eat:Festival from 10am to 6pm in the Italian Gardens and Winter Gardens. Free parking is available in the Sovereign from 3pm.
The Christmas lights switch-on event will be held at 5pm for 5.30pm on the stage by the Christmas tree at the Italian Gardens, or under the canopy of the Sovereign if it’s raining. The honour of the light switch on will go to the winner of Weston-super-Mare Town Council’s mayor’s children’s Christmas card design competition. Entertainment will be provided by the performers of the Blakehay Theatre panto, Weston Brass and choir groups.
Due to the popularity of last year’s market, this year Weston Museum is hosting a Christmas Market Weekend today and tomorrow. Free entry, open from 10am to 3pm each day.
Sip hot festive drinks, enjoy an afternoon of live music and browse more than 20 stalls selling handmade gifts and treats at a Vintage Christmas Market, inside St Paul’s Church, Walliscote Road. Visit from 3pm to 6pm. Free entry.
