The Knife Angel Is Coming To North Somerset

10th October 2023

Following a successful bid by the North Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP), the ‘Knife Angel’ will visit Weston super Mare for the month of May 2024 to highlight the issue of violent crime. The iconic statue created from over 100,000 knives was designed as a national monument against violence.

The North Somerset VRP is working to curate a month-long programme alongside hosting the statue, to include educational workshops, art installations and awareness performances.

We are seeking support from our local communities, businesses and partner agencies in delivering our awareness month – Can you help?

We are looking for donations/support for various things, including:

•Fencing and lighting for the statue

•Graphic design and printing of leaflets/posters

•Education and awareness workshops

•Volunteer refreshments

•Poster & photography competition prizes

•Creating merchandise to sell (profits of which will form a legacy fund)

If you can support our month of action, your business will be recognised accordingly within our communications. If you’d like to volunteer during May 2024 as part of the information team, or you want to talk to us about getting involved in other ways, please get in touch: knife.angel@n-somerset.gov.uk
