Can You Support Care Leavers Into Work?

22nd March 2023

As a corporate parent, North Somerset Council (NSC) is looking for businesses to support our young care leavers into work.

Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), NSC’s Economy Team is looking to support and encourage businesses to come forward with job and training opportunities.

Work experience and traineeships offer a ‘try before you buy’ approach to employment for both employers and employees, and apprenticeships offer a supported opportunity (both mentoring and financial) to train staff in the skills needed for your business to perform at its best.

By employing a more diverse workforce you will promote varied perspectives, inspire creativity, and encourage and support collaboration and innovation. This will increase individual and team productivity, and a more supportive and inclusive environment has been proven to encourage employee retention and improve reputation.

If you have current vacancies or are interested in finding out more about the opportunities mentioned above (and the support available), please contact skillsupport@n-somerset.gov.uk.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
