Funding Support for Small Businesses
The Share to Support scheme, run by the Western Training Provider Network and West of England Combined Authority, is a local scheme in the West of England which enables large employers to cover the cost of an apprentice’s training for small businesses. Large employers with a payroll of over £3million must pay an apprenticeship levy each year, which they can use to fund apprenticeship training opportunities for their business. If they don’t spend this, it goes back to government. The Share to Support scheme encourages large employers to gift their unspent apprenticeship levy to small employers and invest in local apprenticeship job and training opportunities. Please see more information here: Apprenticeship Levy Transfer … | The WTPN
What does it mean for my business? As an SME you will pay a 5% contribution to your training provider for the cost of your apprentice’s training. Through the scheme the full cost of the apprentice’s training (excluding wages) will be covered. All you need to do is make sure you’re registered on The Apprenticeship Service and accept an email connection request from the gifting employer.
