North Somerset Work Together

Weston College is proud to be working in partnership to deliver the North Somerset Work Together project. As part of the project, we are supporting both businesses and the people in North Somerset who would benefit from offering or attending a meaningful work experience placement. Work experience could be for a flexible amount of time from 15 to 90 hours, between now and mid-June.
Benefits to employers: There is a £1000 grant available to employers to help you grow or help you meet your commitment to corporate social responsibilities or social value by offering a meaningful work experience placement. We also recognise how difficult it currently is to recruit so the work experience opportunity could help you to access a new pool of talent or provide a working interview to an applicant. You could also make a difference to a person looking to try a different industry, increase their confidence, and develop their skills. Your existing staff could also benefit as part of their CPD, by mentoring a person on a work experience placement. We will help you through the process. If you are an employer who would like to know more or would like to offer a valuable and meaningful work experience placement please do get in touch. We cannot guarantee that we will have a suitable participant for you but will do our very best.
Benefits to people undertaking work experience: We recognise that there are lots of vacancies currently available in the area, so work experience could be a valuable opportunity to demonstrate to an employer what skills you have or they could support you to gain the skills you need, help to build your confidence, and help you to develop an understanding of what employers are looking for. It’s a great opportunity for you to try a different industry or job role and will make a great addition to your CV, and you could even get offered a job! We can also provide you with additional 1-2-1 support from a Wellbeing & Work Coach to help you through your work experience journey (subject to eligibility).
