Oxford Instruments has signed up to joinmyjourney, a free journey sharing website that allows employees to find colleagues who share compatible journeys by car, walking or cycling.

The website is supported by the council and funded through the Department for Transport’s Access Fund for Sustainable Travel.

To celebrate signing up to the scheme, Oxford Instruments held a prize draw and Dave Simm, test engineer at the company, was the lucky winner of a fitness tracker.

Charmyn Hall, HR Director, explained how using joinmyjourney had helped staff reduce commuting costs as well as arrive at work feeling less stressed.

The company has also taken other steps to reduce the reliance on cars, with the help of the council’s sustainable travel team. This has included providing an electric pool bike, cycle parking improvements and installing an electric vehicle charging point.
