The friendly, informal and free event will help those attending explore how self-employment might be able to help them to earn extra money, work flexibly, develop a passion or create a different kind of lifestyle.

Taking place at The Hive Business Centre from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, the morning is aimed at people who have the beginning of a business idea through to those who know what they want to do but would like help to start a business successfully.  There will be opportunities to share ideas, gain information and meet support organisations and advice on how to move to the next stage.

Local business owner and single Mum Clare Morris, who owns and runs Coco’s Canteen and manages The Waterpark beach front café in Weston-super-Mare, will be on hand to share her experiences of starting and running a successful business and talk from personal experience about the rewards and challenges of being your own boss.

To book a place and for travel vouchers to use public transport to get to The Hive event, please contact Hazel Wintle at North Somerset Enterprise Agency on 01934 418118 or follow the campaign on Facebook page @bossitwsm.

For those unable to attend, a further event is being planned for Wednesday 21 March at St. Andrews Bowling Club, Thirlmere Rd, Weston-super-Mare, from 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 noon.

Spearheaded by three local organisations, North Somerset Enterprise Agency, Skills4Work and Westonworks, who specialise in information, advice and guidance on self-employment, employment, career change and improving skills, the #BOSSIT campaign is also being supported by a further 12 organisations.

It is funded by the NatWest Skills and Opportunities Fund, which aims to help build better communities for everyone.  This includes enabling people to develop in chosen areas and create or access the skills and opportunities they need to start or develop a new business.
