Create Signs, Langford
Create Signs started trading from Langford in 2002, supplying and installing signage nationwide. Being located in North Somerset has meant that the company has succeeded in winning many contracts in Bristol and south Wales as they are ideally situated to benefit from the good transport links in the area. Many of Create’s main suppliers are also located nearby which means that the supply of sign making materials to the company is convenient and efficient.
Create’s founders, Andrew Fogg and Ian Lamont, who both live just 5 minutes commute away from Create’s offices, started the company after meeting at a sign and interior refit specialist in Weston-super-Mare. They quickly secured some long term clients including Lloyds TSB and Bridgwater College and over the last few years have succeeded in expanding the company by building relationships with local construction companies and developers. This has helped significantly increase the size of signage projects, many of which have been in the education sector and include campus signage for the University of the West of England and the RIBA award winning buildings at the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport.
Following Bristol City Council’s decision in 2011 to appoint Create Signs as a major sign supplier, Create’s work can now be seen extensively across the region; from bus shelters to hoardings, in parks, museums and schools and around Bristol’s harbourside. Create have also been involved in large sign projects in North Somerset at Weston College and the new Weston Town Hall building
Signage for one of Create’s most prestigious sign projects to date, Mshed museum in Bristol, was runner up for its category in the 2012 Sign and Digital UK Awards and the project received lots of coverage and positive comments from the judging panel, visitors and clients.
The emphasis many companies now place on sustainability when sourcing products and services has meant that Create’s work is becoming more linked to the region where the company is based. Create's Health and Safety accreditation with Safecontractor, CHAS and Constructionline has also meant that Create can tender for local authority and construction contracts. The company’s aim has always been to offer a high quality sign service and the fact the Create’s signage now adorns landmark buildings across the region and the UK really reflects the success of this ambition.
Earlier this year Create were able to take on a design graduate to expand the design team and invested in further large format digital print machinery in order to keep up with demand. The directors feel that both these decisions reflect the fact that Create are supplying a respected and cost effective service to its customers. Rather than move premises to cope with the company’s growth, the partners are planning to reconfigure and expand at Langford as they believe the location just can’t be beaten.
