The scheme forms part of a wider transformation of this former RAF Locking site to provide business, residential and leisure facilities. This mixed use community will be served by local facilities and be within easy reach of the M5 and rail network.

Phase one of this site's development obtained planning consent in March 2010 for an innovation centre, office accommodation and infrastructure works. Details of the planning consent and non-material amendment can be viewed on the North Somerset Council website.

Developer St Modwen started the first phase of works for housing in February 2011. The first phase of office development started in April 2012 and includes a 6,000 sq ft office building split into three units. Visit our news item (5 April 2012) for more details.

Future phases include serviced plots for the development of a 14,000 sq ft office building and a 30,000 sq ft Innovation Centre. When complete, the entire site is set to create up to 2,000 new jobs and provide up to 1,250 new homes with associated community and retail facilities.

Planning permission has been granted for the £50 million Leisuredome attraction. Work will commence in Spring 2012 and the facility will open in early 2013. Plans are available to view on North Somerset Council's website and an online video is available on YouTube.
