Advice and support is available for businesses wanting to save money on energy and bills and reduce their environmental impact.

Local businesses account for over a third of the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in North Somerset. Businesses can save money and reduce their impact on the environment, by using resources such as water, energy and other materials more efficiently e.g. by installing insulation, fitting water efficiency technology, switching to more efficient forms of transport.

There are excellent business opportunities for local businesses that act now to prepare for the emerging low carbon economy.

Our South West

Provides the focus and on-line champion for sustainability in the South West, and is managed, developed and co-ordinated by the Government Office for the South West. Their website provides businesses with a comprehensive range of links to organisations and agencies locally, regionally and nationally who can provide a range of specialist environmental information on waste minimisation, sustainable construction, adapting to climate change, renewables and general environmental advice.

(LCSW) is working in conjunction with businesses, universities and local councils to promote the growth of the environmental technologies and services sector in the South West of England.

SevernNet (formerly known as the Bristol Port Estate and Vicinity Initiative) is an informal association of businesses, organisations and the community extending from Royal Portbury Dock through Avonmouth, Severnside to Western Approach Industrial Park, supported by facilitation and a Champions Group. Its primary aim is to encourage sustainable resource management across the area (including materials, skills, assets, land, transport and infrastructure) through supporting and enabling collaborative and co-operative action by individual businesses and organisations and between businesses and organisations.

Innovate UK

Innovate UK are running a funding competition to include developing project ideas incorporating resource efficiency, which would involve innovative products or services of repair, reuse, remanufacture, recycling, reduce and replace.
